I will soon be going to three separate places that Holden has gone too. I will take photos and then post about my experiences afterward. I will keep you posted on where I will be going.
Many themes came and went throughout the book. Some that stuck were the following:
1. Red hunting hat: I wore this in almost all of my pictures. The hat is used as his primary defense to critisizm. He uses the hat to hide behind and supposedly 'hunt people'.
2. Depression: This appeared throughout the majority of the book. I think he has so much depression because he is very lonely and fails almost every time he tries to develop a relationship with someone.
3. Jealousy: Although Holden may not seem like the person who gets jealous, i think he does. I think this because when ever he sees a couple walking together he quickly judges them as phonies or some negative reference. I believe that he just wishes that he was in that person's shoes.
4. Irresponsible: It is very clear when reading the book that holden is irresponsible. From hiring a prostitute to spending his drinking and smoking habits. He thinks he is older than he actually is, but the reality is the opposite.
5. Rebellious: Holden has been rebellious from the begining of the book when he leaves Pency before he has too. I do not think that this is one of his worse characteristics. But, it could lead to trouble if he bites off more then he can later in his life.
These were some examples of themes and objects that appear in the novel and that were very important to recognize.
